Resources Optimization Handling Operations in Ports Multipurpose Terminal
نویسندگان
چکیده
The multipurpose terminal in a port, is an intermodal platform that links the ship to the truck, or to another vessel in the case of transshipment. This paper presents an approach which aims to optimize the massive volumes processing of goods in order to arrive at a reduction in the time loading trucks, specifically; to reduce the time between the tare weighing and loaded truck. In order to achieve this optimization, we considered all the unexpected elements that can disrupt the supply chain or delay, and we also discussed the crew scheduling, being an important planning companies production [1]. Based on the Pareto principle as a tool for decision making, we were able to identify the causes that strongly influence the production and create more delays and congestion. Therefore, and based on the analysis of the stability and performance of system, we were able to highlight the most significant areas requiring the most attention to maximize production while minimizing resources and disrupting elements, and we were able to improve performance at a lower cost and without interrupting the activity. Key-Words: Queues trucks, weighing, performance measures, stability.

The dramatic increasing of sea-freight container transportations and the developing trend for using containers in the multimodal handling systems through the sea, rail, road and land in the present market cause some challenges to the general managers of container terminals such as increasing demand, competitive situation, new investments and expansion of new activities and the need to use new m...
متن کاملA New Approach for Sequencing Loading and Unloading Operations in the Seaside Area of a Container Terminal
Due to the considerable growth in the worldwide container transportation, optimization of container terminal operations is becoming highly needed to rationalize the use of logistics resources. For this reason, we focus our study on the Quay Crane Scheduling Problem (QCSP), which is a core task of managing maritime container terminals. From this planning problem arise two decisions to be made: T...

This paper presents a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition (MOEA/D) for the optimal operation of a complex multipurpose and multi-reservoir system. Firstly, MOEA/D decomposes a multi-objective optimization problem into a number of scalar optimization sub-problems and optimizes them simultaneously. It uses information of its several neighboring sub-problems for optimizin...

Private Sector Development Department ▪ Vice Presidency for Finance and Private Sector Development Before Argentina began reforming port operations in 1990, its ports were costly and inefficient. Restrictive labor regulations led to high labor costs. Most ports were open rather than terminal-based, leading to inefficient operating practices and unnecessary costs for cargo handling and storage. ...

The role of ports goes far beyond the traditional function of a pure transport node linking sea and landside transportation. Rather, many ports offer value-added logistics and auxiliary services leading to a network of container flows. Moreover, containers may need to be transferred between different areas within the port. Information exchange and optimization is necessary to efficiently coordi...
